Sarah Palin, who has lately taken to calling Obama “Barack the Wealth Spreader,” seems to be something of a suspect character herself. She is, at the very least, a fellow-traveller of what might be called socialism with an Alaskan face. The state that she governs has no income or sales tax. Instead, it imposes huge levies on the oil companies that lease its oil fields. The proceeds finance the government’s activities and enable it to issue a four-figure annual check to every man, woman, and child in the state. One of the reasons Palin has been a popular governor is that she added an extra twelve hundred dollars to this year’s check, bringing the per-person total to $3,269. A few weeks before she was nominated for Vice-President, she told a visiting journalist—Philip Gourevitch, of this magazine—that “we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” Perhaps there is some meaningful distinction between spreading the wealth and sharing it (“collectively,” no less), but finding it would require the analytic skills of Karl the Marxist.
Ouch.
Keep in mind that JPY are counted from the same “position” as the USD penny. And while the USD has been creeping downwards steadily since I moved to Japan, the fact that it is lower than the Yen, and staying there for a while sucks for Americans.
So I guess, McCain must think the fundamentals of Japan’s economy are stronger - and we’re a dirty “share the wealth” socialist country, too. And hell, just by comparing the dollar against the GBP and EUR, maybe socialism isn’t as bad for the economy as the GOP alarmists would have you believe.
So some girl said a black guy attacked her, robbed her and then carved a “B” on her face because he didn’t like the fact that she was voting McCain. Police suspected from the get go that it was a hoax for several reasons - not the least of which the fact that the “B” was carved backwards, you know, like if you were doing it to yourself in a mirror. She ended up confessing because she ” was upset with the media for blowing this into a political firestorm.”
Excuse me? The whole point of her bullshit story was to stir up a political fire storm. “Black people who rob and violenetly attack / brand people who don’t agree with them are pro-Obama.” If that isn’t a way to stir up even more racist bullshit, I don’t know what is.
And this is the kind of bullshit to which some McCain supporters need to resort in order to change people’s minds? I think maybe we need to carve a backwards “S” on her other cheek.

My dad made a post about Robin Hayes saying that democrats are anti-American. So I thought I would share the video above to show that Hayes is not alone. Bachman even goes on to flat out deny what she said (and was recorded saying), with the full length video here. (Vitriol ahoy!) When further pressed on the matter, Bachman had this to say; “When I was on Hardball with Chris Matthews last week, I do believe firmly that a trap was laid, but I stepped into it…” My, oh my. What an evil trap asking someone what they think and then allowing you to go off on some insane rant.
McCarthy would be proud.
