I made this blog for you.
So don't be an ungrateful lot -- leave comments.

Bob pointed out this interesting site to me today. It’s a site programmed and run by christians, for christians. What’s it all about? Well I couldn’t say it any better than them so I’ll lift a passage from their site: “We have set up a system to send documents by the email, to the addresses you provide, 6 days after the “Rapture” of the Church. This occurs when 3 of our 5 team members scattered around the U.S fail to log in over a 3 day period. Another 3 days are given to fail safe any false triggering of the system.”

Yes, it’s a site for those who will be ascended into heaven come the rapture wherein emails will be sent to friends and family who have not also been saved. One of my favourite bits about the reaction of “the lost” is here: “Imagine how taken back they will be by the millions of missing Christians and devastation at the rapture. They will know it was true and that they have blown it.

The site works on two levels for me… Firstly, I find it pretty funny. Not only do they use poor grammar and overuse quotes, but they also can’t seem to stay consistent with their own capitalisation rules. Why do they specifically offer 62 recipient addresses? Is “the email” the thing people use who also listen to “the rock” and smoke “the pot”? I mean, from a christian perspective, I can see the “practicality” of it. But if there is massive devastation come the time of the rapture, what is it that makes them so sure that the internet will be functioning properly? And if millions of people all disappear at once, do you really think that people are going to be checking out their computers? Did the angels put a seal on the servers? And what if something happens to the set up for an entire week, sans rapture?

Secondly, how arrogant is that shit? I mean, I love it when christians just assume they are going to heaven and everyone else has “blown it”. Just as “no one knows the day or hour” no one knows who is going. And if it is all “true christians”, then why are only 3 of the 5 people who programmed and run the site used as the fail-safe? Are some more christianly than others? What about the humility that their god insists they practise?

Anyway, I feel badly for the people who sign up but aren’t truly saved when the rapture comes. Talk about egg on your face. “Hey John, got your mail. Why are you still here?” Or how about if they send a mail to someone who wasn’t lost? Or what if another religion had it right, will there be a “Oops. We blew it!” mail sent instead? Or what if the servers can’t send the mail to the recipients? If all the paid users have teleported into heaven, along with the site owners, who will handle the refunds? What if the send day is on the Sabbath - wouldn’t sending out all of those mails be considered work? The questions are so endless that my brain hurts.
