Yes, even though it isn’t out yet I got a legal copy of Spore Creature Creator working on my Mac. I read a post from the user Hiryu at TUAW who posted a way to get the PC version to work on your Mac. I wanted this badly enough that I was willing to give it a shot.
Since the Mac version of the trial is basically just the Windows version wrapped in Cider, I figured that the real version would be the same. So I sent $16 to a friend in the US via PayPal to buy the Direct Download application for the PC since the JP store was giving me issues. Then I followed the instructions which one kind user was awesome enough to post for how you can get it to work on the Mac- and it worked no problem!
I took a $16 chance and it paid off well.
Now what I want to know is, if EA is just using Cider to wrap a PC game, and people on the internet can figure out the day the software gets released how to make the Mac version run (albeit by jumping through a few small hoops), then what the hell is taking EA so long to release the Mac version?
